Originating in San Francisco in 1988, the Corporate Games have had worldwide appeal.

The project has been held in such diverse places as Budapest and Bilbao, Malaysia and Hawaii, Sydney, Stuttgart and The Hague.

It has welcomed more than a million athletes into over 50 host cities and seen participation from more than 20 000 organisations worldwide.

Corporate Games is the world’s largest mass participation multi-sport festivals of its kind open to all businesses and organisations.

These festivals attract many thousands of competitors from hundreds of organisations which allows companies to support their employees' pursuit of a healthier and more active lifestyle and is the ultimate combination of sport, business and tourism.

3rd South Africa said in a media release that the V&A Waterfront is the prestigious host venue for Cape Town Corporate Games to be held from 6 ttill 9 June  next year.

Sporting codes include action cricket, badminton, dragon boat, golf, carting, lawn bowls, mountain biking, netball, running, soccer, quash and table tennis.

David Green, CEO of the V&A Waterfront said they’re looking forward to welcoming participants in the Corporate Games 2013 t and the opportunity to showcase all on offer in this multidimensional precinct. 

Cape Town saw its first Corporate Games in June this year where some of the largest businesses in the country entered, including City of Cape Town, Sanlam, Airports Company South Africa, PEP Stores, Cape Union Mart, SAB Miller, Barloworld Motor and Spur Corporation just to name a few.

Sanlam Human Resource Manager, Frederick Stroebel, said Sanlam is proud to have been part of the first Corporate Games to be hosted in South Africa.

According to Nicole Visser, Marketing & Communications Manager at 3rd South Africa, whether representing a global firm or a local independent, the Games hold something for everyone.
