According to the human settlements department, more than 2 600 new homes in Joe Slovo settlement in Cape Town will be fitted with solar-powered geysers. The multimillion-rand project will be funded by the Danish government and will be part of the South African government's programme to create better living conditions for residents of the settlement. The houses have been specifically designed to accommodate the water-heating equipment with 2 639 units being fitted with solar geysers at a cost of R18 million.
