Wade Walker embarks on E&I sub-contract at Medupi

Electrical, instrumentation engineers and constructors Wade Walker, a wholly owned Murray & Roberts subsidiary company, has embarked on a sub-contract at Eskom’s Medupi coal energy project in Limpopo awarded by ELB Engineering.

The sub-contract calls for electrical and instrumentation installation on 54 coal and ash conveyors, varying in size from 100m to 300m and extending over approximately 11.5km, as well as on nine substations.

This work includes cable racking, junction boxes, instrumentation and cabling.

For the sub-contract the Wade Walker team was required to supply specialist UVG instrumentation cable as per Eskom’s specifications, while the junction boxes are being constructed from stainless steel to accommodate the hazardous environment.
